Please bring your little one and join us for a day of fun in the “snow”. Even if there is no snow outside, we will have our own pretend snow inside. Make your own silly snowperson. This program includes games, songs, a snack, a craft, live animals and a nature walk (weather permitting).
APEC’s Young Chefs will make homemade Nutty Granola and then create spectacular Fresh Fruit, Granola & Yogurt Parfaits.
Who lived here before we did? What did they eat? What kind of houses did they live in? What kind of games did their children play?
What is global warming and who is causing it? These are some of the things we will explore in this program. Students will discuss the evidence for global warming and carry out experiments that explore the impacts of global warming on the earth. Calling all scientists!!
This season features wonderful stories about winter. Experiences include dramatic play, movement games, meeting live animals and crafts that relate to these fantastic stories!
Birds come in many different shapes, sizes and colors! These variations are adaptations to their environment. Come learn why adaptations are important for birds. Using experiments we will see how wonderfully birds are designed to live and feed where they do. You will realize that being called a bird brain is a compliment after this class is through!
Children will be introduced to the basics of composition and nature photography rules while using disposable cameras. During the first class they will practice their newly acquired skills, taking photographs during a nature walk on APEC's trails. During the second class the children will create frames to mount their favorite pictures. Film developing and all materials included.
Take a walk on the wild side at APEC. You never know what wildlife you might find when we hike the trails of Alley Pond Park. Explore parts of the park rarely seen and hike trails that are seldom used. Blaze trails as we investigate the spring wonders of the park. Walk will be held rain or shine, so be sure to dress appropriately (and be prepared to get dirty) and wear comfortable shoes. Be sure to spray with bug spray before coming. In case of severe weather, program will run indoors. Snacks will be served when we return to APEC.
Learn how caterpillars change into beautiful butterflies. Search the trails for munched leaves, creeping caterpillars and hanging chrysalises. Take home your very own caterpillar and watch it change into a painted lady butterfly! Snack included. Caterpillar care and housing instructions provided.
Join us as we listen to a nature related story followed by craft/activity time.
Please bring your little one and join us for an afternoon of fun planned especially for the little ones. This program includes games, songs, a snack, a craft, live animals and a nature walk (weather permitting).
Join us as we explore this “perfect” part of nature. We will explore our ponds and the creatures that live there.
