Pre-registration is required for all programs.


Registration for Fall 2017 begins on June 20, 2017 at 1:00 pm.

APEC is only able to accept in person or phone registrations Monday - Friday. You can register online at any time.

Please pay careful attention to the age range of the program you are registering for. Program fees are non-refundable. In the event that you register your child for a class that is not age appropriate, we will contact you to discuss transferring your child to an age appropriate program or hold the credit for a future class.



Payment:

If registering by phone or online, you must pay by credit card. If you are registering in person, we prefer payment by cash or check (payable to APEC).



Waiting List:

If it appears that you will be closed out of a particular class, please put your name on the waiting list online. Additional classes may be added. You will be notified if that occurs.



Missed Classes:

No refunds or credits will be given for any programs. You may give your spot to another child if the child is the appropriate age for the program. Please phone APEC to let us know the switch of names.



Make-up Policy:

A make-up session is only offered for children attending multi-session programs during the regular school year. Only ONE make-up program is available, regardless of how many classes a child misses. At the start of the semester, parents will be given a handout with the make-up class date. In order to attend the make-up session, you must notify the Early Childhood Coordinator at (718) 229-4000 ext. 207 to sign up for the class. Notification is required so adequate staff and materials are prepared. Make-up classes are not available for summer programs.



Age Requirement:

Your child MUST reach the required age for a particular program either before or during the month that he/she begins that program. All programs are drop-off unless otherwise noted. Participants in drop off classes must be able to use the bathroom independently .



Trial Classes:

APEC does not offer trial classes. Try one of our one-time weekend programs! They are an accurate representation of how we run our weekly programs.

 

Saturday
February 3

Winter Bird Walk for Beginners
Ages 8 and up (children must be accompanied by adult)

Walk around Oakland Lake accompanied by Nancy Tognan of the Queens County Bird Club to look for ducks, coots, grebes, swans, geese and more. Oakland Lake never complete freezes over because of all of the spring water constantly feeding it, so it becomes a freshwater duck magnet when other ponds are frozen. Meet at APEC at 9:30 for a brief orientation; learn to use binoculars and a field guide. Bring binoculars if you have them. Although this walk is free, pre-registration is required as space is limited. Limited to 20 participants.

Shamrocks and Clovers Paint Glass Night
Adults, ages 21 and over only

Join Masa Kitani of Creative Scene to create your own St. Paddy’s day wine or pint glass. Includes a pint/glass of a beverage to enjoy while painting and light refreshments.

Walking Queens – Discovering Queens’ Hidden Treasures
Adults

Join Adrienne Onofri , author of Walking Queens as she speaks about her book Walking Queens and hidden treasures of Queens. She will talk about where to find a real nature getaway and hidden gems – ponds, lakes, etc. in Queens. Book signing to follow. Light refreshments. Although this a free lecture, pre-registration is required.
